Visualisation of RTP Skill Data

This project aims to further define the use cases for visualising skill and competency data, focusing on those of dRTP leaders; co-design methods of viewing and exploring skill data; and finally implement the proposed solutions into the DIRECT Web Application.

Recent discussions with the Research Technical Professional (RTP) community have highlighted the challenge of visualising skill and competency data for the range of scenarios and requirements that exist. This is in part caused by the number of skills involved and the range of use cases.

Clear, interactive visualisations of user data will enable career and team leadership questions to be asked, with outputs that can be clearly communicated and compared with the rest of the community. The resulting impact will be a shared understanding of the range and competency of skills in current RTP teams.

The project will involve working directly with the community through a series of workshops to establish the scenarios in which users will need to visualise, explore and compare their skill data. During the workshops, we will explore key aspects of these use cases, including time restrictions, accessibility requirements, and data that will need to be viewed. Finally, we will have hands-on exercises to develop potential visualisations that could be implemented.
