The programme will be a blended learning programme for digital Research Technical Professionals (dRTPs) with some leadership responsibility formal or informal or about to take on a leadership role. There are no formal prerequisites, and the programme will be designed to address the DIRECT framework’s leadership and management competencies.

The best digital developers know that iteration is how good systems become great. Debugging Digital Research Technical Leadership applies the same principle to leadership, building on the technical expertise, rigour and problem-solving mindset of dRTPs.

This six-month programme is designed for dRTPs who are already leading, mentoring or coordinating others, or who are preparing to take on greater leadership responsibility. It combines in-person and online sessions, action learning groups and practical resources to build leadership skills, confidence and peer networks.

Participants will explore leadership identity and self-awareness, leading people and change, making the strategic case for technical functions, and sustaining effective leadership practice. They will also use the DIRECT framework to assess their leadership development and build a practical leadership portfolio.
